The Crestview Police Department will be participating in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics, on March 31, 2010. The event will start on Main Street at the Veterans Memorial Wall, at Courthouse Terrace at 7:00 a.m. The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics is the movement’s largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle, raising more than $34 Million for Special Olympics programs around the world.

More than 85,000 Law Enforcement Officers carry the ‘Flame of Hope” across 35 nations, raising awareness and funds for the Special Olympics. Every year Law Enforcement Officers from around the world gather to carry the “Flame of Hope” in a Law Enforcement Torch Run’s Final Leg, in honor of the Special Olympics World Summer or World Winter Games.
Runners who are interested in attending the event can join in the Law Enforcement Torch Run. Anyone interested in running, please be there at 6:30 a.m. for final preparations and photo opportunities. A group run will extend from Court House Terrace to Main Street and Ferdon Boulevard. The Crestview Police Department will continue the route with the torch to the southern Shoal River Bridge on South Ferdon, where the torch will be passed to the Florida Department of Corrections to continue their stage of the journey.
